Tyler Terry hit a game-winning baseline jumper with four seconds left in the game, as the Bethel Bees held off a furious late Greenon run to knock off the Knights 49-47 in a non-conference game.

Bethel took a 25-22 lead at the half, and went on a 13-6 run in the third period to increase their lead to ten heading to the fourth period.

With four minutes left, the Bees led by 12 before the nearly collapsed. Five crucial turnovers in the final four minutes allowed Greenon to catch fire and close the gap.

The game was still in the balance with 1:05 left when Greenon sot a steal and a layup to cut the Bethel lead to two points before the Bees turned the ball over again. Greenon connected from the free throw line with 36 seconds left, tying the game at 47. The bees then set up for one shot, and Terry connected late before Greenon’s last second 60-footer was short, giving the Bees the hard earned win.

“Late in the game after Greenon had closed the gap, the guys really pulled it together and gathered ourselves and took care of the ball to get the final shot,” Bethel coach Eric Glover said. “They showed some maturity on our part.”

“That is what we have been working on, understanding how the game is going and how momentum works. We are trying to teach the kids that turnovers and easy baskets create momentum.”

Caleb South led Bethel with 20 points, with Evan Hawthorne added 10. Greenon was led by Jacob Whetsel scored 21 to lead Greenon.

*On Friday night, the Bees suffered a tough loss in the Cross County Conference, falling to Miami East 44-43.
