Donald E. Slanker, 90, of New Carlisle, OH passed away Friday July 2, 2010.

He was born February 13, 1920 in North Hampton, Ohio the son of the late Glen C. & Hattie (Haldeman) Slanker.

He was a graduate of North Hampton High School in 1938, was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1941-1945.

He married Marjorie Trostel in 1946.

He was employed at Peter Kuntz Co. and purchased Trostel Furniture Store in 1960.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie (Trostel) Slanker, of New Carlisle, OH; his son, Richard Lee & June (Ciuk) Slanker of Centerville, OH; daughter-in-law, Jane (Grimm) Slanker of New Carlisle; grandchildren, Deena Lynne & Brian Green of Yorktown, IN, David Garrett & Katie (Milliken) Slanker of Springfield, OH, Kyle Jacob Slanker, Kate Elizabeth Slanker both of Centerville, OH; great granddaughter, Olivia Nicole Green of Yorktown, IN; a brother, Earl J. Slanker of Cincinnati, OH; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James Donald Slanker; three brothers, Howard H. Slanker, Warren G. Slanker & Horace C. Slanker; a sister, Lois Irene Smith.

He was a member & trustee of the Honey Creek Presbyterian Church.

He was also a member of Northwood Hills Country Club, Innisbrook Resort and Country Club, Palm Harbor, FL, the Sertoma Club, New Carlisle.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10-1 PM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Shelley Wiley officiating.

Burial immediately after the service at New Carlisle Cemetery.
