I am sure you have all heard the statement, “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger”.
I used to think it really didn’t make much sense until life threw me several difficult situations. I soon realized what it stood for and I’ve had people say they can’t believe I handled them as well as I did. Whatever your role is in any situation, I feel you have only two ways to handle it. You can stand like a rock and deal with it, or you can let it rock you. There is no way other than to meet it head on if you’re a parent. You need to do so for the sake of your child. Then there are the times that you have to stand back and let them feel the consequences, because they too will become stronger and better because of them. In every situation, something good comes out of it, and there is always a lesson learned, even if it is not to ever go there again. There have been times when someone we love makes a bad decision and it affects all who love them. It is tragic how it ripples through so many. All we can do is love them and hope there is a good thing that is learned from it, and go on. We hope to become stronger as a result. How can we help others with our tragedies, or misfortunes? We can be there for them since we have weathered that storm, and we can give them advice, or advise them on how we would have done it differently. Then there are the indescribable feelings they have that we know and can relate to. There is not one better person to help you, than one that has been there, done that. So when times are tough, and you become weakened by an event, don’t worry for out of it some good will come. So when all is said and done, use the strength you have acquired to pay some good forward. You will be glad you did.
