I am constantly amazed at people’s choices they make and then they don’t seem to understand what happened because of it.Â
Is it because they are gamblers, and they test the odds and do it anyway? Then they want to complain about how bad things are because of it. As I wrote in one of my previous articles, I call it the touch it hot syndrome. You can tell a child not to touch something because it is hot, and they have to touch it anyway. You can tell a teen that if they do a certain thing, it will result into a harsh punishment, and they do it anyway. They have to experience it I guess to see if we mean what we say. I guess there are so many that have to take that hard path and the bumps and curves rather than the straight path. We all test the waters everyday with our choices. We know if we eat certain foods, they can be bad for our hearts, or cause us to gain more weight. We eat them anyway. We know if we smoke, we can ruin our health, yet we do it anyway. We know if we drink in excess, we can ruin our life, and our health, yet we do it anyway. We know if we drive too fast, we could wreck or hurt someone else, yet we do it anyway. There are those who know if they break the law there are severe punishments, yet they do it anyway. WHY??? Then there are those who make the right choices, and the consequences are amazing. They work hard for that new position at work, and receive it. There are those who spend many years going to school to be in the profession they have chosen. Others are envious, but yet had the same choice. There are those who decide to be the best they can be, and their life is great because of it. It is truly all our decisions of how we want our life to be. It is not about playing the odds, and then complaining about the consequences when it does not work out. IT IS ALL IN THE CHOICE – NOT THE CHANCE that will determine our destiny. We can also learn from some of our bad choices to make our life better. Mistakes are great character builders and great examples to learn from. We all make them. It is a new year – a new chance to change our ways, and make better choices. One choice we can make is to pay some good forward to others, the consequences of that are amazing!
