Saturday 4/23

3:08 a.m. Traffic stop for speeding in the area of US Route 40 and Palmer Road. Contact was made with the owner/driver David L. Hapner, Jr, a front seat passenger and rear seat passenger Mary Lewis. It was found that Lewis had an active warrant out of Clark County. Hapner was issued a citation for speeding (71 MPH in a 55 MPH zone).

Sunday 4/24

7:38 p.m. Unruly juvenile in the 7900 block of Dayton Brandt Road, Female called MCSO to report her 7-year-old son had been threatened on the bus by another Bethel student. Female had already spoken to the school administration but also wanted to file a police report. Case pending until deputy can speak with the school staff for more details.

10:21 a.m. Fraud reported in the 4200 block of US Route 40,

11:01 a.m. Fraud reported at Big Mike’s BP, 8561 S. State Route 201. RP stopped in the MCSO to report a fraud incident. No further information available,

4:11 p.m. Disturbance reported in the 6200 block of Elizabeth Bethel Road. No further information available.

Friday 4/29

2:46 a.m. Suspicious vehicle in the 4800 block of S. State Route 202. While on routine patrol deputy noticed a vehicle at the listed location. Also observed was a male walking away from the vehicle. Contact was made with the male who advised he was attempting to change the tire. He was instructed to return to the vehicle and the deputy would provide assistance. The deputy ran the license plate through LEADS with a return as stolen. The male was detained and identified as Westly Vertees who had a warrant out of Franklin County. A second deputy responded to the scene and ran the VIN to confirm the vehicle had been stolen from Oakwood. Vertees stated he came from Dayton to take a friend to his girlfriend’s residence. He further stated his friend was picked up from the scene by a female. Deputy observed multiple latent prints on the vehicle and multiple tools. The scene was processed and the deputy was able to collect several latent prints. K9 Bear and deputy were requested to the scene. The area was searched and a Clarence Hughes was located laying in the ditch. The owner of the vehicle reported to the scene and said none of the tools belonged to her. Vertees and Hughes were transported to the Miami County Jail and charged with receiving stolen property and left of license plate.
