The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has issued an alert to the community regarding possible scammers calling county residents posing as deputies.

A man reported to the Sheriff’s Office that he received a phone call from a man claiming to be a deputy. The caller said that the man had a current citation for missing jury duty. The man said that he was suspicious, since he knew that he had not missed any requests for jury duty and questioned the validity of the caller.

The number provided to the Sheriff’s Office does not match any numbers that the department uses.

“We are warning residents of a scam,” said Sgt. Christina Evans-Fisher. “The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging all residents to not give out any personal information to callers who possibly may attempt to contact them stating that they are with the Clark County Sheriff's Office and are reporting that they may have warrants or citations pending.”

If you receive a call that you think might be suspicious, call the Sheriff’s Office at 521-2050.
