The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on I-70 near I-675 in the westbound lanes on August 24, 2017 at 09:16 P.M. in Mad River Township, Clark County.

A black Chevrolet impala was westbound on IR 70 in the middle lane when it attempted to change lanes to merger onto the exit ramp for IR 675 striking a red Volvo Semi that was westbound in the right lane.  The impala struck the guardrail and overturned causing the driver to be totally ejected onto the right berm.  The driver was Careflighted to Miami Valley Hospital from the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet was Eddie Dixon, age 72, from Dayton, Ohio.

The driver of the Volvo semi was Jeffery Kupetz, age 23, from Wooster, Ohio.

Mr. Dixon was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and is still listed in serious condition at the time of this release.

Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Bethel Township Fire and EMS and Mad River Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation at this time.
