Former Tecumseh School Superintendent Brad Martin is due to be released from jail on February 23 at 9:00 a.m.

Martin was sentenced to six months in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to theft in office, tampering with records and forgery.

He had admitted to spending over 300 hours at casinos during work hours and taking money from district support groups to fund his gambling.

The school district is moving on, issuing a statement that read, “We view the release of Brad Martin as yet another element of closure to the situation we were in last year.  We will continue forward, celebrating the many good things taking place by the students and staff in the district.”

Many in the district are also ready to move on, as some of our Facebook friends have commented on a video of Martin telling his story.

“You are brave to put your story out there! People can and do change! Stay strong, God will help you and your family get through this!”

“I truly had a bitter taste with this man. And, seeing the ownership, and sharing with so much transparency. I respect a man like this and wish him and his family nothing but the God given best.”

Others were not so forgiving.

“If he wasn’t caught he wouldn’t be sorry.”

“What about the staff members he bullied into covering up his deceit? He hurt the whole community and he can’t ever ‘fix’ that.”

Tecumseh Schools have since implemented procedures in an attempt to prevent such an incident from happening in the future.
