Sunday, 5/15

1:44 a.m. To Rea Dr. A man reported that his wallet was stolen while at a bar. He said that he was going back and has a gun. When the deputy arrived, the man was sitting in his vehicle and his mother was trying to talk him into staying home. The deputy spoke to the man who smelled strongly of alcohol. He was uneasy on his feet and had trouble maintaining balance. During the discussion of the stolen wallet, it became more apparent that he was highly intoxicated. He said that he went to pay for his drink at the bar and his wallet was missing. He said he confronted a possible suspect and had a brief disagreement. He said he went home to get a firearm and go back to the bar to “handle the problem.” The deputy found a Springfield Armory XD40 on the passenger floorboard. He was placed under arrest for weapons while intoxicated and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. He refused field sobriety tests.

4:37 p.m. To the 800 block of N. Medway Carlisle Rd. for a report of an accident. A driver was traveling north on Medway-Carlisle when she went off the roadway and struck two mailboxes. She denied being distracted by her phone, but reported being emotionally distraught and was crying. She was cited for failure to control. The owners of the mailboxes were provided with her insurance information.

7:52 p.m. To Campbell Ave. for a report of a possible heroin overdose. The deputies arrived to find Bethel Twp. Medics at the scene. A woman reported that she had brought her daughter home from Florida to get her off drugs and has not let her daughter out of her sight. She said that she was fixing dinner and realized that the daughter had been in the bathroom for 25 minutes. She was found on a couch in the living room. The Medics administered Narcan and she woke up immediately. She said that she was just sleeping and that everything was fine. She denied any drug use and then began arguing with her mother about the incident. She was advised that she was being taken to the hospital. While trying to secure her, she kicked a deputy in the stomach, but she was secured. She was found to have several syringes and capsules in her pockets. Warrants will be issued for assault, possession of heroin and tampering with evidence.

Monday, 5/16

3:41 p.m. To N. Scott St. for a report of a theft. A man reported that he was notified by his bank that someone had made 5-6 purchases using his credit card. The purchases totaled over $2000. He said that his card was not stolen, but that someone must have copied his information when he used it somewhere. He said that the card has been cancelled.

3:57 p.m. To the area of Bowser and Hocker for a report of an abandoned vehicle. The deputy located the vehicle parked on the roadway with no registration. It was not entered as stolen and there was no contact information for the owner. It had a 48-hour tow sticker issued May 12. The vehicle was towed.

7:59 p.m. To Hillcrest Dr., Medway, for a report of harassment. A woman reported that she is in the process of divorcing her husband and has a protection order against him. She said that today he has called her and texted her at least 12 times. She said that today he drove past her home but was not within the 500’ limit. She asked what could be done to keep him from driving by. A warrant was issued against the husband for violating the protection order.

8:40 p.m. To New Carlisle Pike for a report of a theft. A man reported that sometime this afternoon someone entered his garage and stole several items. There are no suspects.

9:18 p.m. To Weinland St. A man reported that his 8-year-old son told him that when he visits his mother, she smokes marijuana with her boyfriend in front of him. He said that this is an ongoing problem and that she is the custodial parent. He said that when he stays with her, he has no bedtime, and in the morning is rushed to get to school and has little time for breakfast. He said that he has contacted Children’s Services and is concerned about sending the boy back to that environment. He was advised that if he didn’t return the boy, he could be held in contempt of court if the mother pressed the issue. The mother was called and said that since it was so late, the boy could stay with his father.

Tuesday, 5/17

9:49 a.m. To S. Church St. for a report of vandalism. A woman reported that overnight someone broke out a window on her vehicle. A piece of concrete was found outside of the vehicle near the broken window. She said that the grass was mowed yesterday and it could have been thrown by the mower.

Wednesday, 5/18

8:32 a.m. To Galewood Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that overnight someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took seven prescription pills. He couldn’t provide the names of the pills, but said they were for blood pressure and cholesterol and were not narcotics.

10:26 a.m. Traffic stop on Spangler Rd. at Victory Safety Lane. The driver was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. It was taken and submitted to be destroyed.

6:30 p.m. To Folk Ream Rd. for a report of a custody dispute. A man reported that he was to pick up his daughters at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays for court-ordered visitation. He said that the mother went to court on May 4 and they are awaiting the results of the new court order. He said that the mother did not show up with the kids as ordered. The mother was contacted and she said that the two had verbally agreed to change the schedule. They were advised that this is a civil issue and that they should abide by the current order until a new one is put in place.

7:11 p.m. To Stratmore St. for a report of a theft. A man reported that he got a call from a male subject stating that he was there to rent the property and was waiting for the keys. He said he did not know what he was talking about, so he went to the rental property and found another couple who stated that they had rented the property also. He said he contacted the tenant and asked if she was trying to sublet the house since she is gone for the summer and she replied that she did not do so. The potential tenants reported that they had answered an ad on Craigslist to rent the home for four months. They said they met with a man identified as Fredrick Hale who said that he needed $100 from each of them as security deposit to run a background check on them. He said that Hale told them that they could come by the house today to get the keys and the rental paperwork.

8:35 p.m. To Burkett Ave. for a report of a domestic dispute. A woman reported that she was involved in a verbal dispute with a male friend. She said that they have ongoing issues.

Thursday, 5/19

10:43 a.m. To Victory Rd. for a report of an accident. A driver was headed south on Victory Rd. when he accelerated quickly causing his vehicle to fishtail. He went off the right side of the road and struck a pole head on. He was cited for failure to control.

12:09 p.m. To Rawson Dr. for a report of unauthorized use of a vehicle. A man reported that he was contacted by an Oakwood Police officer who advised that his vehicle had been driven by an assault suspect in their jurisdiction. He said that the officer was trying to determine who was driving the vehicle. He said he told the officer that he suspected that his daughter had the vehicle. He said that the officer warned him about wrongful entrustment and that he should make a report. He said that the vehicle has been gone since the first of May and he suspects that his daughter may have had a spare key made. The vehicle was entered as a return to owner.

2:51 p.m. To Todd Lee Ct. for a report of a burglary. A woman reported that she came home to find her front door open. She said that nothing appeared to be missing or damaged. The door did appear to have been fixed to allow for easy entry. The deputy was able to open it with only a slight pull. The door was resecured.

4:04 p.m. To Cedar Rd. for a report of a burglary. A woman reported that she believed that someone entered her home through a back door. She said the screen door handle had been broken off. She said that her flat screen TV was missing. She identified a possible suspect.

6:19 p.m. To Oak Rd. for a report of an unwanted guest. A man reported that he came to exchange personal belongings with his ex-girlfriend. He said that he waited for her to give him his items, so he knocked on the door and came inside. Once inside he was forced outside by the girlfriend. The girlfriend said that when she returned home, the man was at her home drinking a beer. She said he tried to force himself inside but she pushed him out. She said she armed herself and called 911. She did not want to press charges. Both parties agreed that they had already exchanged items and that they no longer needed to be around each other. She wanted him trespassed from her property, and the man was so notified.

10:00 p.m. To the Park Layne Shopping Center for a report of an accident. A man reported that his vehicle was sideswiped while parked there. There was white paint from the rear passenger door to the passenger quarter panel.

11:18 p.m. To Gerlaugh Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that she and her sister were involved in a verbal argument that involved no violence or threats. She said that her sister left before the deputies arrived. She said that they get into an argument like this about once a month. She was advised of the steps necessary to obtain a restraining order.

Friday, 5/20

4:38 a.m. To Funston Ave. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that he and his live-in girlfriend had been arguing, but that there had been no physical altercation. The girlfriend said that he was throwing things around the house and kicked the bathroom door. She said that she was hit by one of the items that he threw and her lip was injured. Both were intoxicated. Once she was informed that her boyfriend would be charged with Domestic Violence, she wanted to retract her statement and became uncooperative. The man was placed under arrest for one count of misdemeanor Domestic Violence and booked into the Clark County Jail.

10:19 a.m. To Woodglen Ln. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that he was involved in an argument with his girlfriend because she saw him looking at another woman on his cell phone. He said that she threw drinks on him and slapped his face. He refused to sign a statement. The girlfriend was contacted and said that she never touched him and that she is upset because he has been cheating on her.

7:31 p.m. To Lake Rd. for a report of a protection order violation. A woman reported that she is still getting text messages from her ex-boyfriend. A text arrived while she was speaking to the deputy. The boyfriend was charged with the same offense on Monday and has an outstanding warrant. Another warrant was issued for today’s incident. The boyfriend was located on May 22 while deputies were investigating a suspicious person in the area of the Crystal Lake clubhouse. He was arrested and taken to the Clark County Jail.

11:51 p.m. To Funston Ave. for a report of an assault. A man reported that he went to his ex-girlfriend’s home in Park Layne to pick her up and take her to the store. He said that her “baby daddy” who lives with her approached him with a golf club and told him to leave. When he did not leave right away, the daddy came out with a gun, pointed it at him and told him to leave. He requested information on obtaining a protection order.

Saturday, 5/21

10:31 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a bomb threat. When deputies arrived, everyone had evacuated the business. The scene was secured and all roadways around the business were closed. The manager said he received an anonymous call stating “There is a bomb in the building. Have a good night,” then hung up. There is no indication who might have made the call.

10:46 p.m. To Frayne Dr. for a report of noise. Dispatch was not any more specific than Frayne Dr. Turning onto Frayne, the deputy saw a large group of people fighting in a yard and in the roadway. Once they saw the deputy, everyone ran in all directions. He tried to speak with the subjects, but language was an issue. He gathered that there was an argument with some people who had left the area. One woman said she was upset and needed a squad. Bethel Twp. was called.
