Sunday, October 4

12:10 AM To Garfield St. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that when she returned home she found that someone had broken into her shed and took boxes of miscellaneous items. She said she couldn’t remember what all was in the boxes, but that they were mostly clothes and toys. She said that she had 10 bottles of laundry soap that were also missing. She said she doesn’t think she left the shed unlocked, but, since there were no signs of forced entry, she may have done so.

7:36 AM To Fenwick Dr. A woman reported that two trucks were blocking her driveway. She said she did not want to meet with the deputy because she didn’t want the neighbors to know that she called. She was advised that the deputy had to meet with her. She was also advised that since the trucks were a few inches from her driveway, they were legally parked. The deputy offered to speak to the neighbors and ask them to move the vehicles, but she did not want him to. She said that she would have to do something that would cause the deputy to give her a ticket. The neighbors were contacted and they agreed to move their vehicles.

12:18 PM To Corvette Ave. for a report of a theft. A man reported that overnight someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took a CD player that was on the rear seat. A door was ajar on a neighbor’s vehicle but nothing was taken.

5:56 PM To Marquart Rd. for a report of vandalism. A woman reported that a large hole had been cut in the side of her barn. She checked inside the barn but was not sure what was missing. A stack of tires near the hole had been moved. A crowbar that did not belong to the RP was found inside the barn.

8:58 PM While on patrol, the deputy saw a vehicle parked at New Carlisle Elementary School near the playground. As the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver pulled up alongside him and asked if there was a problem. The deputy could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and the driver had red eyes and dilated pupils. The driver said that he and his passenger had just finished playing soccer and were leaving. He said “There is weed in the glovebox.” A search of the vehicle yielded “a green vegetable-like substance similar to marijuana,” a glass pipe containing similar material and a glass “bong.” During the search, the driver kept asking, “Am I in trouble?” and “What’s gonna happen to me?” He seemed very anxious and paranoid. He said that they were driving around smoking marijuana and stopped at the school to “hang out.” He failed several field sobriety tests. He was charged with OVI, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. His mother was called to pick up his vehicle.

11:16 PM To Hartley Ave. for a report of a home invasion. A woman reported that she and her husband were sitting in their living room when a person just walked into their home. At first she thought it was their nephew playing a joke on them until she noticed that the suspect was missing his left arm. She said the suspect wanted her husband’s wallet, and they gave it to him. The wallet contained $6.00. The suspect said he needed $80 to $100 because “I’m in trouble.” He then asked for her purse and found that it only contained $1. She said that while he was looking in her purse, she hit him in the back of his head and he fled the residence. He was described as about 5’ 8” and 135 lbs. He did not take any property.

Monday October 5

6:12 AM To Osborn Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that sometime overnight, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and removed several items from it. He said that he had tools in the vehicle that were not touched. The credit cards that were taken have bene cancelled. There are no suspects.

11:12 AM To Marquart Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that the lock to his shed was missing. He said that the plate had been unscrewed from the shed. Several items were missing. He said he was last in the shed about a week ago so he was unsure when the items were taken. There are no suspects.

2:18 PM To Winchester St. A man reported that his wife noticed pieces of drywall on the floor. As she was picking them up, she noticed a small hole in the wall. Looking around the bedroom, he found a .22 round lying on the night stand. He said he stuck a metal rod through the hole and went outside and saw the rod sticking out of the house. He advised that there are kids who live behind his home and thought they had been shooting. He didn’t think it was done on purpose. The deputy patrolled the area but could not find anyone outside.

2:56 PM To Frayne Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that sometime overnight someone took his motorcycle. He said that it had no battery and would have taken at least two people to move it. He said that he had it on Craigslist for sale and that on September 22 a man came to look at it but did not want to buy it. There are no other suspects.

4:49 PM To Kendig Rd. for a report of a neighbor dispute. A man noticed that a tree on his property was damaged by what appeared to be buck shot. He said that he has expressed concern to a neighbor in the past because he was shooting with no backstop.

5:55 PM To Corvette Ave. for a report of a theft. A man reported that a grill that was in his carport had been taken. He later noticed a scissors jack behind one of his vehicle’s tires, a heavy duty jack, a cinder block and pliers in his yard. He also noticed that lug nuts on his tires had been loosened.

7:04 PM To Ohio Ave. for a report of a theft. A man reported that overnight someone broke into his garage and took a bench grinder and audiobook CD’s. There was no forced entry and he said he may have left it unlocked. Other easily accessible items, like lawn mowers and chain saws, were undisturbed.

Wednesday, October 7

6:57 AM To Prentice Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that overnight someone entered his unlocked truck and took his wallet and a bundle of keys that run equipment at work. There are no suspects.

5:27 PM To N. Church St. for a report of a theft. A man reported that overnight someone entered his unlocked truck and took several items. Neither he nor his neighbors heard anything. There are no suspects.

Thursday, October 8

8:52 PM To Drake Ave. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone forced the lock on his truck cap and took a snow blower and a hammock. There are no suspects.

Friday, October 9

1:29 PM To N. Main St. for a report of a theft. A man reported that around 8:00 a.m. a male subject tried to enter the building. He believes the same subject took a car stereo from one of his vehicles. He said the subject knew what he was doing because the wires were disconnected, not cut. He had video showing a man on a bicycle trying to open the business door, then he went out of camera range.

4:17 PM To W. Washington St. for a report of a possible burglary. A woman reported that someone took her jewelry box and her phone from her home. As the deputy walked through the house with her, she noticed that her 32” TV and her daughter’s Ipad were also missing. There are no suspects.

5:43 PM To Beach Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone cut the lock on his shed door and took his weed eater. The subject also took the lock. There are no suspects.

9:20 PM While on patrol, the deputy saw a man on a bicycle with no lights on it. He initiated a traffic stop, but the cyclist did not stop. The deputy activated his siren several times before the cyclist stopped at N. Park and Grove Rd. He got off of his bike and came toward the deputy in an aggressive manner and was ordered to stop. When he stopped, he threw a baggie to the ground. He denied throwing anything. The deputy asked what the bulge in his sock was, and he said money. A check with dispatch revealed a long history of resisting arrest, trafficking in drugs and assaults. He was secured in the cruiser. The baggie contained 5 Alprazolam pills. He was cited for bicycle equipment violations, was released from the scene and rode his bike home.

11:32 PM To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of an assault. The deputy arrived to find the victim being treated by Bethel Twp. Medics. He said he had no idea how he was injured. He was reminded that witnesses said that a suspect knocked him out, but he did not remember it. The RP said that the victim and the suspect were stopped at the stop sign at Hartley and Dayton-Lakeview. The suspect began honking his horn and the victim drove into the Speedway. The suspect pulled in behind him and began yelling at him. He said that the suspect struck the victim in the face causing the victim to fall to the ground, striking his head and losing consciousness. He described the suspect as a white male with a shaved head and tattoos on his neck and arms. Another witness confirmed the RP’s story. The victim was transported to Grandview Hospital, but refused any treatment and checked himself out.

Saturday, October 10

5:00 AM To N. Church St. for a report of barking dogs. When the deputy arrived, he heard dogs barking from the residence and could be heard 50’ away. She was unable to get an answer at the door. She returned that afternoon she was able to contact the homeowner’s mother who said that her son would be back soon. About 45 minutes later, she drove by the residence and saw the son standing outside. He was advised of the complaint and said that the neighbors complain all of the time. She reminded him of the ordinance stating that a noise should not be heard 25’ away. He was issued a warning and told that if she came back, he would be cited. She later found out that other deputies had given him the same warning.

9:04 PM To Mark Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her half-brother came into her home demanding money because he was dope sick. She said he grabbed her by the face and punched her in her ear, then took $100 from her purse. She said his mother then picked him up. She said that she feared for her safety if he returned. She refused treatment by Pike Twp. Medics. A warrant was issued for the brother’s arrest.

11:47 PM To Cindy Ct. for a report of phone harassment. A woman reported that she and her fiancée have been receiving harassing text messages. One contained an explicit sexual message. She said that when she replied “who is this,” the response was “I will be there later tonight to take care of you and your family.” They said that the only person who has anything against them is his cousin, and they said they would not put this past him. She requested an extra patrol in case he followed through with his threat.

Friday, October 9

3:45 PM Suspicious activity at the A and R Reck MHP Entrance, 4220 US Route 40. RP asked a male that he didn’t recognize what he was doing. This male became angry and told him it was none of his business. After the RP explained he had ownership in the trailer park, the male walked away and entered one of the trailers. The deputy made contact with the male and identified him. The male stated he was there to visit a friend and thought the RP was a construction worker. The male was told the owner didn’t mind if he visited his friend but was not to walk around the park.

Saturday, October 10

3:08 AM Traffic stop in the area of US Route 40 and Palmer Road. The vehicle was stopped for a lane violation. At the conclusion of the traffic stop the driver was arrested for OVI.

Sunday, October 11

00:10 AM hours Disturbance at the A and R Reck MHP, 4220 US Route 40. RP advised she was physically and sexually assaulted but didn’t wish to pursue charges. A refusal to prosecute form was signed by the RP.

2:05 AM Traffic stop in the area of Pisgah Road and East State Route 571. Vehicle was stopped for a speed violation. The driver, Jaclynn Coffman, was found to be OVI. Coffman was issued a citation for speed and OVI and released to a sober driver.

Tuesday, October 13

6:57 PM Accident with no injury in the 7000 block of Staley Road. Driver traveling east on Staley Road (near State Route 201) struck a deer.

Wednesday, October 14

12:45 PM Traffic stop in the area of South State Route 202 and East State Route 571. Vehicle was stopped for a speeding violation. K9 Bear was deployed for a narcotics sniff but no alert was made. Driver was issued a warning for the speeding violation.

Wednesday, October 14

1:23 PM Fraud reported in the 9300 block of South Mann Road. RP’s bank card was used by an unknown person. Her bank had notified her of possible fraudulent charges and she wanted the incident documented.

Thursday, October 15

10:21 AM Assisted fire department in the 4500 block of South Dayton Brandt Road. Deputy responded on the report of a vehicle fire. Upon his arrival he found a 1999 motorcoach home fully engulfed.
