Sunday 2/14

1:48 p.m. To Bischoff Rd. for a report of an assault. A woman reported that she broke up with her boyfriend about a year ago, but recently they have been spending time together. She said he came to her home today and began arguing with her about her relationship with someone else. She said that he was grabbing her around the collar. She said he also took her phone and took it to his residence in Miami County. She was advised to contact Miami County to have them escort her to his home to try to get her phone back. She did not want to press charges for the assault.
4:01 p.m. To Ballentine Pike. A woman reported that she was being evicted by her ex-fiancee, and that he was going to put her belongings in the front yard. She was advised to contact the man to try to get the rest of her belongings.
5:06 p.m. To Rt. 40 and Rt. 235 for a report of an accident. A driver southbound on Rt. 235 slowed for traffic and the vehicle following was unable to stop because of the snow on the road and struck the first vehicle. The second driver was charged with assured clear distance.
7:06 p.m. To Bookwalter Dr. for a welfare check. A man reported that he was leaving the home because his wife’s parents were caring for the children and he wanted to avoid any arguments with them. His wife reported that he hit her on the left side of her head and that her mother had taken her to the hospital. The husband was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence and assault.
11:23 p.m. To Beach Dr. A woman reported that someone was throwing snowballs at her house. Deputies checked the area but found nothing suspicious.
Monday 2/15
6:21 p.m. To Lakeshore at Hillcrest for a report of criminal damaging. A man reported that nearby juveniles were riding 4-wheelers on lake property and left tracks on the property. He said he would be sending a no trespass letter to the juveniles. The juveniles were contacted and they said that they were riding a 4-wheeler on their property, not on the lake’s property.
Tuesday 2/16
3:22 p.m. To Prentice Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that his girlfriend started “going off” because she wanted to go to her mom’s house to see her children. He said he told her that they would go in a little while, but that was not good enough for her and she started yelling at him. He said they went to his vehicle to leave and she began destroying the interior of the vehicle. The girlfriend related a similar story and said she was upset because she thought he wasn’t going to take her to her mother’s home. Both agreed to cool down before trying to talk more.
5:39 p.m. To Oak Rd. for a report of identity fraud. A woman reported that her boyfriend, with whom she had recently broken up, informed her that he had filed her taxes for her. She asked how he got her W2’s and he said he got them out of their post office box. She said he gave her nearly $4000 and said that was all she was getting. She said she was supposed to get over $7000 back from her taxes. She said that he told her he had opened a bank account and deposited the funds there. The bank is investigating.
6:46 p.m. To Rawson Dr. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that she found $350 in charges to her credit card that she did not authorize. She said that there were 9 charges in January and February. She said someone must have taken her December statement because she never received one. She said that the credit card company was investigating.
Wednesday 2/17
7:20 a.m. To Weinland Dr. for a report of a custody dispute. A woman reported that she is the residential parent for her 1-year-old son. She said the father has court-ordered visitation and was to have the child home by 7:00 this morning. She said that he told her that he was keeping the child until Friday. She was advised to contact her attorney and to contact Springfield Police to act as a peace officer when she went to pick up the child.
7:46 a.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a found item. A man reported finding a syringe on the ground. The plunger was back and it was loaded with a red substance. It was submitted to property for disposal.
11:47 a.m. To Ulery Rd. for a report of a hit-skip crash. A vehicle went off the road and struck a guy wire and road signs. The deputy collected pieces of the suspect vehicle and submitted them to property.
3:52 p.m. To Slayton St. for a report of phone harassment. A woman reported that she has about 70 several calls from her ex-boyfriend today. She said that he has made threats to her and her 17-year-old son in the past. She was given information on obtaining a protection order. The boyfriend was contacted and advised that he had called her a couple of times. When confronted with the number of calls, he neither admitted nor denied making them. He was advised to stop calling her.
7:42 p.m. To Grove Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that his wife was keeping his mail from the post office box, so he took the key. The wife said he was not getting the mail until he returned the key. The deputy supervised the exchange.
11:50 p.m. To the 7600 block of W. National Rd. for a report of a deer strike. The vehicle suffered minor damage to the front left side.
Thursday 2/18
12:39 a.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. A woman reported that her boyfriend came home, he began to insult her by saying that she never does anything and asked why the dogs were out of their cages. She said he began whipping the dogs and threw them in their cages. She said he continued acting angry, grabbed a knife and said he would cut the dogs’ throats and throw them into the street. She said she was leaving and he put the knife to her throat and said she was not going anywhere. Her father soon arrived and tried to get her and her child out of the residence, but the boyfriend was confrontational. He then pushed the girlfriend out of the home and left the child inside. The father was able to get the child out. Deputies were unable to locate the boyfriend, but stood by while she gathered a few things to leave.
2:13 a.m. To W. Main St., Medway, for a report of phone harassment. A man reported that someone has been sending text messages to his wife’s phone. He said he told them to stop, but they sent more.
Friday 2/19
12:36 a.m. To Osborn Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that he told his live-in girlfriend that he was breaking up with her. He said she lashed out at him and caused a small cut below his left eye with her ring. The girlfriend said that they were arguing over money and the argument escalated to pushing and shoving. She said he pinned her against a wall and threatened to kill her. She said she struck him in self-defense, causing the cut to his face. The man’s mother said that he came home and said that some “weed” was missing from his hiding spot and accused the girlfriend of taking it, and an argument ensued. She said she told them to stop because she had to go to work in the morning. She said the girlfriend started walking toward him and was hitting him. She said the man then put his girlfriend in an “arm lock” to control her. Deputies determined that the man was the primary aggressor, charged him with domestic violence and assault and booked him into the Clark County Jail.
12:28 p.m. To Crystal Lakes for a report of a man going door-to-door looking for tree service work. Deputies were flagged down by a resident who had taken a photo of the subject. Deputies located the two males on Island Dr. One was found to have an active warrant for theft. He was found to have a small amount of marijuana and a bag of white crystals. He was taken to the Clark County Jail on the warrant and for possession of marijuana. The crystals were submitted for testing.
2:31 p.m. To the 10800 block of New Carlisle Pike for a report of an accident. A westbound vehicle lost control and struck a guardrail. He was charged with failure to control.
3:10 p.m. To Winchester St. A woman reported that she has had problems with her neighbor. She said that today the wind blew her child’s basketball hoop onto her privacy fence causing damage to the fence. The neighbor was in the hospital and unavailable. The RP was advised that there was no criminal intent and that no charges would be filed.
8:08 p.m. To Sheehan Dr. for a report of a possible burglary. Two men were found in the garage of a vacant home. They said that they were there at the request of the former tenant to pick up an abandoned vehicle. The former tenant was contacted and said that they did not have permission to be on the property, but that they could take the abandoned vehicle and then leave the property. Both subjects were advised. There was no evidence that they had entered any other part of the home.
10:52 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of two subjects trying to break into a vehicle. While enroute, deputies were advised that the subjects left in a red Jeep and went to Brubaker Apartments. Deputies arrived to find the Jeep in the parking lot. The RP reported that the two subjects said they were “looking at bumpers.” After arguing with them, the RP said they left. He said he thought they might be trying to steal something. There was no damage and nothing was missing.
Saturday 2/20
4:29 a.m. To Funston Ave. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that he was at an adult night club with a friend when his girlfriend tracked him down and confronted him. He said that she caused a scene at the club, then went outside and keyed his vehicle and then left. He said he then went home to collect a few things to leave for the night when his girlfriend began arguing with him again. Both parties agreed to stay in separate parts of the residence for the night.
10:43 a.m. To Church and Jefferson Streets for a report of an accident. A driver westbound on Jefferson Street ran the stop sign striking a vehicle northbound on Church Street. He was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device.
7:02 p.m. To Lower Valley Pike. A woman reported that her ex-husband was harassing her. She said he followed her home and he drove by her home several times. She said that he pulled up, began yelling at her boyfriend, then left. She said that she did not know why he was stalking her because she has been dating her boyfriend for several years and nothing has changed. She wanted the incident documented in case there were further problems.
9:25 p.m. To W. National Rd. for a report of a heroin overdose. The victim was found unresponsive in a back bedroom. Bethel Twp. Medics administered Narcan and he slowly became conscious. He was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Deputies found a syringe with a small amount of clear fluid near where the victim was lying. Several pill capsules containing a white powder and a rubber tourniquet were also located. The syringe and capsules were collected for testing. The victim’s parents said that he had contacted them to enter drug treatment. She said they picked him up in Dayton and brought him home, and soon found him unresponsive. Deputies learned that the father had a protection order against the victim. A warrant was issued for violating the protection order.
