October 24

9:44 p.m. – To I-70 & State Route 4 for a report of a man dragging a woman out of his car by her hair. Deputy could not find anyone at this location, but found them at Rt 4 & Rt. 369. Woman stated that her boyfriend was hitting her because she refused to arrange a meeting with another man so that her boyfriend could “beat him up.” She said that there was an altercation at I-70 and Rt. 4, then they continued up Route 4 to the Rt. 369 exit. She said they exited and stopped at Lower Valley. Another passenger distracted the boyfriend so that she could escape and she flagged down a car on Rt. 4. She was taken to Springfield Regional Hospital by Bethel Squad for treatment of her injuries.

October 25

9:33 a.m. – To Lundgren Rd. for a check scam. Man reported that he received a letter stating that he had been selected to participate in a survey. Enclosed was a check for $3,420.00 and he was instructed to send $3200 to Barcelona, Spain, by Western Union. He said that he was notified today that his account had been frozen because the $3,420.00 check was fraudulent.

11:35 a.m. – To Weinland St. Man reported that he lost his wallet at the Quality Food Mart. He said the wallet contained his driver’s license, debit card and other papers.

5:00 p.m. – To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of theft. Man reported that two dealer’s license plates were missing from his car lot. He said that one has been missing for a couple of months, but the second came up missing today. He said his lot was really busy and someone could have easily taken it without being detected.

October 26

1:09 a.m. – Woman walked to the New Carlisle Fire Department to report that her live-in boyfriend had assaulted her. She said that he hit her in her ear, grabbed her shirt and threw her to the floor and continued to hit her. The boyfriend, who was intoxicated, said that she was throwing things at him and that he did not remember much after that. She signed a probable cause statement and the boyfriend was arrested for domestic violence.

8:24 a.m. – To Willowick Dr. for a report of domestic violence. Woman said that her husband came into the bedroom and asked her to find their son’s shoes and that she replied “find them yourself” and went back to bed. She said she waited until he left the house and locked him out, and that he then kicked in the door. Husband said that his wife is on medication and in the morning “she can become crazy.” He said he knows the law and he can kick in his own front door if he wants. Neither party would sign a statement.

8:45 p.m. – To McAdams Dr. for a report of a burglary. Woman stated that her daughters informed her that her ex-husband was in her home on the 23rd. She said he came to drop off their daughter, walked in uninvited, spent about 20 minutes in the home and then left. She said that he has been told by several deputies not to enter the residence. She wishes to file burglary charges against him.

October 27

10:06 p.m. – To Carman Dr. for a report of domestic violence. Woman reported that she had a verbal argument with her live-in boyfriend and that she was tired of him calling her names and treating her badly. She was advised of the process of obtaining a protection order.

October 28

2:01 a.m. – To E. Carpenter Dr. for a report of a theft. Man reported that someone took a toolbox from his garage. His girlfriend stated that she was babysitting the suspect’s children and that the suspect had asked several times that the tool box be given to him. Deputy contacted the suspect and he denied having the toolbox. Deputy searched his home and his vehicle but could not locate the toolbox.

10:00 a.m. – To N. Church St. for a report of theft. Woman reported that her passport had been stolen. She did not know where or when it was taken.

1:33 p.m. – To W National Rd. for a report of theft. Man reported that he saw suspects in a green pickup truck take property from his business. He said he followed them to Rt. 235 & I-70. He said his business has video surveillance, but he would have to await help in downloading the video.

4:30 p.m. – To Dialton Rd. for a report of theft. Man reported that someone took his lawn roller and some scrap items from his home. He said he suspects his neighbor because the grass was rolled from his house to the neighbor’s garage. He said he believes the neighbor took items from another neighbor.

6:28 p.m. – To Campbell Dr. for a report of an assault. Man reported that a man assaulted him on Weinland. He said the suspect asked “Why did you tell on me?” and then pushed him, so he ran from the building. He said the suspect then ran to his girlfriend’s car and choked her. Both parties filled out written statements to press charges against the suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

10:50 p.m. – To Frayne Dr. for a report of domestic violence. Woman reported that she was in a verbal argument with her boyfriend over her drinking problem. The boyfriend was getting ready to go to work and both parties agreed that they would be fine after deputy left.

October 29

11:45 a.m. – To N. Tecumseh Rd. for a report of theft. Man reported that his son has been taking his Social Security checks and cashing them. The son has admitted to taking them. The man said his son has a drug problem.

10:47 p.m. – To Zeller Ct. for a report of domestic violence. Man reported that his step-son was intoxicated and was arguing with him. He said that the step-son was brought home by a family friend because he was involved in a fight in Park Layne earlier. The mother stated that everyone had been drinking. The son agreed to go to bed for the night and to stay away from his mother and step-father.

October 30

3:17 a.m. – To Hocker Dr. for a report of domestic violence. Woman stated that she and her boyfriend were having a verbal argument over finances, but that the argument had ended. Both parties agreed that everything was OK.

2:20 p.m. – To 548 S. Dayton Lakeview Rd. for report of an accident. Man stated that a truck hit the sign in front of the Park Layne Car Wash and left. Deputy found the logo from the truck at the scene. The witness provided a license number and deputy went to the owner’s home. He saw the truck with the logo missing from the front grille. The suspect admitted that he hit the sign and left. He said his child was crying and while trying to deal with that he hit the sign. He was cited for failure to control and leaving the scene of an accident. The sign may be damaged beyond repair.

9:27 p.m. – to S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. Woman stated that when she opened her door at the McDonald’s drive-thru, her purse fell out of her car. She said she went back to the McDonald’s to see if anyone had found it but no one had. She wanted the incident documented.

11:00 p.m. – to Gerlaugh & Lemay for a report of a man walking and stumbling around. Man was located and he said he was walking to his home on Cliffside. Deputy found a baggie of “green leafy substance” in his pocket. Man said he did not know where it came from because he was too drunk to remember. He was charged with underage drinking and possession of drugs and released to his parents.
