SPRINGFIELD - It was a very successful track meet on April 7, as the Tecumseh Lady Arrows finished with a strong second place out of the eight teams competing in the annual meet at Shawnee High School.
Tecumseh took home four event championships, including two from Jasmine Redman in the distance events. The meet began with the 4x800 team of Jaci Combs, Kaitlin Ritter, Carma Berry and Redman finishing second in that event, running a time of 10:39.98. They finished nearly 30 seconds faster than the third place team from Washington Court House. Paige Parker gained the Lady Arrows some team points in the 100 meter hurdles, as she placed fifth overall with a time of 19.53. Also earning points for the Lady Arrows was Addie Biteman in the 100 meter dash, with an eighth place finish. Parker and Biteman joined Katie Herdman and Anna Scarff in the 4x200 relay team with placed sixth, and also earned Tecumseh three team points. Redman left her mark on both distance races. She easily won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:46.54, outdistancing her closest runner by 12 seconds. Her time in the 3200 was even more impressive, as she cruised to the championship, with nobody within 45 seconds of her. Teammate Ritter was fifth in the 1600, and third in that 3200. In the 4x100, Tecumseh finished in fifth place, as Lorianna Castillo, Ashlee Driscoll, Holly Edmonds and Destiney Danner ran 1:01.01. In the other relay events, the Lady Arrows finished fifth in the 4x400, with Redman, Combs, Parker and Gibson,rker (sixth) both placed in the 400 meter dash, while Biteman completed the 300 hurdles in fifth place with a time of 56.38. Combs outsprinted the second place finisher in the 800 meter run, as she completed the race in 2:31.52, less than a half second ahead of the next runner. Meanwhile in the 200, Herdman and Scarff finished fifth and sixth, less than one second apart. Over in the field events, Combs was sixth in the high jump with a leap of 4-feet, 6-inches, with Herdman walking away as the champion of the long jump, going for 15-feetm 9.5-inches. In the final event, Biteman placed seventh in the pole vault. The Arrows boys squad placed sixth overall, and also brought home some gold. Capturing fifth place in the 4x800 relay was the team of Eric Allen, Joe Nau, Andrew Thomas and Luke Miller.  They also placed two runners in the 100 meter dash, as Logan Crockett took third, and Ryan Neal was fifth. Allen also finished strong in the 1600, placing second overall with a time of 4:56.36, just seven seconds behind the winner from Shawnee.  Finishing fifth in the 4x100 was Justin Pennington, Jeremy Herdman, Neal, and Crockett.  Claiming the 400 meter dash was Herdman with a time of 51.99 seconds. Herdman also won the other first-place finish as he won the pole vault with a leap of 12-feet, 6-inches.
