The Tecumseh Arrows football team found another way to survive last week, defeating the visiting Graham Falcons 10-6 Friday night, scoring all of their points in the first half of the game.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Arrows got on the scoreboard early in the second period when Jeff Helt hit a field goal from 23-yards out after their drive stalled inside the 10-yard line.Â
Later in the second period, the Arrows added to their lead when Chuck Buchanan scored from two yards out with four minutes left, and the Arrows enjoyed a 10-0 lead.
Graham came back in the second half, and cut into their lead. A long drive was capped off by a five-yard run from Jake Theodor early in the fourth period.
Tecumseh moves their record to 4-1 overall, as they head to Stebbins on Friday night for their first divisional game in the Central Buckeye Conference.Â
* Also last week, the Bethel Bees played two halves of football on Friday night. The first half, they held onto a slim lead, outscoring the division leading Miami East Vikings, before watching as the Vikings came storming back in the second half for a 41-10 win over the Bees.
Miami East turned things up in the second half, outscoring Bethel 35-0 and rolling to their fourth win of the season.
Bethel scored first following an interception by sophomore James Pelphrey. The Bees then drove 28 yards for a score when senior Jon Ellerbrock found fellow senior Austin Staggs for a 10-yard strike, and the host Bees took a quick 7-0 lead.
Unfortunately for the Bees, they would not find the end zone again. After Miami East scored in the second period to cut the deficit to 7-6, the Bees had one last scoring drive left.
A long scoring pass from Ellerbrock was called back due to a penalty, but Bethel added to their lead when Bethel’s kicker Brandon Garlough nailed a 29-yard field goal at the end of the half, putting the Bees in front 10-6 at the half.
Offensively, Bethel struggled in the second half, not able to pick up a first down before the Vikings had stormed back for a huge lead.
Bethel (2-3, 1-3) returns to action on Friday night, trying to get back on the winning track at Twin Valley South. |
