Several area girls’ basketball teams will be in action this Saturday in an event hosted by the Troy Lady Trojans each year.Â
The Troy Trojans Preview will be held Saturday, starting at 2 pm. Twenty area varsity girls’ basketball teams will be in action throughout the day, including Tippecanoe, Tecumseh and, Greenon. Each team plays two quarters of a real-time game situation, allowing them to work out their nerves before the season officially begins next Friday. Tecumseh plays Landmark Christian at 4:40 pm, while Tippecanoe battles Northmont at 6 pm and Greenon plays Anna at 8 pm. The complete schedule looks like: National Trail vs Sidney at 2 pm, Franklin Monroe vs Emmanual Christian at 2:40 pm, Piqua vs Minster at 3:20 pm, Covington vs Springfield Shawnee at 4 pm, Tecumseh vs Landmark Christian at 4:40 pm, Wayne vs Tri Village at 5:20 pm, Tippecanoe vs Northmont at 6 pm, Troy JV vs Miami East JV at 6:40 pm, Trotwood Madison vs Miami East 7:20 pm, Greenon vs Anna 8 pm, and Troy vs Milton Union 8:40 pm. Here is a look at the three local teams and their opponent: Tecumseh vs Landmark Christian: The Tecumseh Arrows reached the sectional finals last year, and this years’ team could be even better. They return the top junior in Southwest Ohio with guard Bianca Quisenberry, who will be the top player in this event. The Arrows also bring back seniors Chelsey Davis and Miranda Mougey, along with juniors Brittany Frappier and Megan Christmann. Landmark Christian is a non-OHSAA school, and will bring some firepower into this matchup. Eighth-grade starting point guard Celina King is considered the top player in Ohio in her class, and top 15 in America. Also senior Kori Faul is a big three-point threat, who formerly starred at Miami Valley School. Tippecanoe vs Northmont- Should be a fun year for Tippecanoe first-year coach Aaron Jackson. He has three key players back with seniors Morgan Miller and Ellise Sharpe, along with junior Erica Comer. Both Miller and Sharpe will play at the next level next season. Tipp brings back some quality experience, and some rising stars of the future. One of them is freshman Halee Printz, who I think is among the top 10 freshman in the Dayton area. Northmont should contend near the top of the GWOC Central and also has top kids back. Krista Knapke is among the top seniors in the area, while Christine Ross and Courtney Sweet also return. Johna Eller is an emerging guard for the Bolts. Greenon vs Anna- Greenon gets the defending state champs, as the Knights battle the Rockets. Greenon is led by senior Whitney Robinson, but has plenty of help with her. Jenna Robertson, Lianne Masquelier and Heather Slaughter are all key players back, as they should challenge for the Mad River Division title. Anna lost 3 key seniors off their state title team, but returns one of the elite juniors in Natalie Billing. Also back is Ashley Frohne, a group of quality returning player, and incoming freshman Cayla Bensman, an immediate impact player. All the action begins at Troy High School at 2 pm on Saturday. Comments (0) |
