After suffering a tough defeat at Tippecanoe last week, the Tecumseh Lady Arrows knew they had to win their huge league crossover game on Wednesday night against the Mad River Division favorites, the Urbana Hillclimbers.Â
After Tecumseh fought all the way back from a double digit second half deficit, it all came down to the final five seconds. With the game tied and 5.9 seconds left, Brittany Frappier scooped up a loose ball at midcourt and passed ahead to Bianca Quisenberry, who scored and hit an ensuing free throw, putting the Lady Arrows up by three. They held on as Urbana couldn't get a good final shot off, and Tecumseh escaped with a 77-74 victory. "We pretty much trailed the whole game until the fourth quarter," Tecumseh coach Danielle Thomas said. "It was a physical game, and we survived." It was only a matter of time before high-scoring Lady Arrows junior Bianca Quisenberry made someone pay. After struggling against Tipp with seven points in the loss, the returning leading scorer in the Dayton area lit up the Climbers for 29 points, leading four players in double figures. Chelsey Davis added 16, while Megan Christmann scored 14 and Brittany Frappier netted 12. "Bianca was phenominal, it was her break out game this season," Thomas said. Quisenberry added 12 rebounds and unofficially seven assists. "She put on an offensive display, she kept driving to the basket and scoring." Thomas also praised the work of Christmann defensively, guarding the main Urbana threat Trischa Lacy. "Megan did a great job defensively on her tonight," Thomas said. "Lacy hit three consecutive three's, and we put Megan back on her and held her down." "This is the first time this group of juniors has beaten Urbana at any level," Thomas added. "It was a big win against a team who is very talented in the other division." Another player who Thomas commented on was Taylor Henry, who scored some big points for Tecumseh while Frappier was out with foul trouble. * Tecumseh came back on Saturday with an easy 65-20 win over Stebbins, to run their record to 3-1. Quisenberry again led four players in double figures with 25 points, while Miranda Mougey added 14, Christmann 12 and Davis 11. The Lady Arrows cruised out to a quick 31-13 lead at the half, and had no trouble finishing off the Indians. Tecumseh returns to action tonight hosting Sidney at 7:30. Comments (0) |
