For eight minutes, the game was close.  When the dust had settled, the Tecumseh Lady Arrows cruised to an easy 82-27 victory over the Sidney Yellow Jackets in a non-conference contest.
Tecumseh held onto a 15-10 lead after the opening quarter, increased that to a 20-point lead at the half, and put them away in the secold half.  "We didn't play well in the first quarter," said Tecumseh coach Danielle Thomas.  "We were giving them too many second chances, and weren't playing defense."  Things improved in the second eight-minutes.  The Lady Arrows intensity was better, and started to pull away.
"We came out in a half court man-to-man in the second quarter, and played better," Thomas said.  "We went into the locker room at halftime and talked about stepping up their defense, and the kids did that.  We held them to four points in the third quarter, and six in the fourth."
In the third quarter, the Lady Arrows worked to get the ball inside to their post players, and it was successful.  "We tried to get it in to Chelsey (Davis) who had seven shots in the quarter, and Megan (Chistmann) had a couple of layups," Thomas said.  "We wanted to utilize our height advantage."
Three players led the offensive attak for the Lady Arrows, including a triple-double from Bianca Quisenberry.  The junior guard had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.  "We want to get her assist numbers higher," Thomas said.  "She can score against anyone when she has to, but her passes are also looking really good."
Also putting up big numbers were the post players, Davis and Christmann.  Davis netted 23 points, and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Christmann added 10 points and 10 boards.  "Chelsey took some hits out there, but she definately has the senior mentality and is focused really good on the court," Thomas said.  "Megan is starting to buy into her defensive role, and is scoring a lot of her points on steals.  She is also developing a nice jumper off the dribble."  Tecumseh shot the ball well from the field, hitting 34-65 shots, while Sidney was 11-52.
The Lady Arrows hosted Bellefontaine on Monday (after presstime), then starts quite a stretch of games against some very tough competition.  After Christmas, they play Kenton Ridge, Northmont, Tippecanoe and Lorain (in the Classic in the Country).
"We are focused on every game," Thomas said.  "These girls know what they have to do to get the ones we need.  We respect all of our opponents, and can put up some nice numbers, but we have to play good defense against everyone."
