The Tecumseh Lady Arrow Soccer Team got back to their winning ways on Thursday at Spitzer Stadium as they enjoyed a rain shortened 7-0 victory over the Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders. It was a nice team win for the Arrows as they received contributions from many players.
Jessica Boggs scored the first of her four goals at 33:51 off a nice pass from Anna Studebaker for the early 1-0 lead.  She scored again just two minutes later at 31:48 from 12 yards out on the left off a thru pass from Michelle Milligan, 2-0. Allison Denton scored her first goal of the season at 11:49 as she put back into the net a ball that deflected off a Lady Raider player from 8 yards out in the middle, 3-0. Shelby Gillespie got into the act less than a minute later as Denton fed her a short pass from 12 yards out on the right that she finished for a 4-0 lead. Boggs scored her third goal of the half on another nice feed from Denton for the 5-0 halftime margin.  For the half the Arrows outshot Ben Logan 15-3 and they did a nice job capturing balls out of the air in winning  12 of 17 50/50 balls. They had 74 intercepts and in spite of the big scoring lead they still struggled with overall possession in giving up 4l loss of possession plays . Coach Jim Paxton was pleased with their performance but encouraged them to improve upon their passing and to have better player movement and support after passes have been made. Assistant coach Craig Lindsey also requested that they consider not taking shots from bad angles wide of the goal rather look to make better passes to teammates who are in an improved position to score a from a higher percentage shot.
The Arrows continued their fine play the second half. Michelle Milligan scored at 37:29 off a well placed penalty kick after Guadaloupe Mendoza had gotten tripped in the box. Milligan who has been in the goal most of her career said after the game that “it felt much better being on the other side of a penalty kick situation.”  Jessica Boggs topped off her big scoring game with her fourth goal just over a minute later at 36:15 as Anna Studebaker made another nice thru pass for the 7-0 final.
Kellie Gruber had 5 saves for the Arrows and her first shutout as the Arrows improve to 1-1 on the season. Credit Jaela Coffey, Taylor Thompson, and Katelyn Novinger with solid defensive play. The Arrows play their first game ever in the Jim Paxton era at Yellow Springs on Monday for a 7:00 start.
