As the annual Tipp City Cross Country came to a close, several area runners began the new cross country season with some solid performances from Tecumseh, Bethel and Greenon.

Tecumseh’s girls squad had the most success of the area teams, as they placed three runners in the top 13 of the meet.  They were led by Jasmine Redman who ran a 13:00 race, good enough for eleventh place in the meet.

Finishing right behind her was teammate Jaci Combs, as the sophomore ran a 13:02 and finished twelfth in the event.  One second behind Combs was another Tecumseh runner Addie Biteman, as she placed thirteenth with a time of 13:03.

Rounding out the top five for the Lady Arrows was Leona McDaniel who finished 35th with a time of 13:50, and Jordi Harrison was 36th with a finishing time of 13:52.

For the Tecumseh boys squad, their top four finishers all placed outside the top 50.  Josh Culliton led the way for the Arrows with a 12:05, good enough for 59th overall.  Andrew Thomas was 64th with a time of 12:13, while Matt Hayden was 81st (12:33) and Scott Harmon was 119th (13:34).

Bethel’s boys squad had some success as well.  Finishing sixth overall was Brandon Graves with a time of 10:31, while Aaron Burchett finished number 20 with a time of 11:09, and teammate Dustin Swartzbaugh also ran that time, good enough for 21st.

Jaben Corbett was 65th overall with a time of 12:13, and Cameron Price was 70th, running a 12:16.

Leading the way for the Bethel girls was Courtney Danner with a 15:17, good enough for 61st overall.  One spot behind her was the Lady Bees’ Sydney Compton with a time of  15:25, and Kaitlyn Daugherty was 85th=2 0running a time of 16:01.

The Greenon Knights girls squad placed seven runners in the top 30, showing solid consistency throughout the race.  Their top time was Megan Ball, who ran a 12:42 and finished sixth overall.  Placing seventh and with the same time was Mary Wenzell.

Danielle Workman was 22nd with a finishing time of 13:29, with MacKenzie McMillin running a 13:30, good enough for 24th place, and Jami Durkee two seconds behind them and placing 25th.

Finsihing 26th was Erica Miller with a time of 13:35, and Sydney Lewis was 30th, running a 13:44.

Seth Currier had the highest time of the day for the Greenon boys, finishing ninth overall with a 10:45.  Their next best time was Brandon McNeil with an 11:38 (37th), Joshua McReynolds 11:43 (41st), Aric Ross 11:57 (49th) and Ethen Grant 11:58 (51st).

- Tecumseh’s junior high program placed several in that race also.  For the girls, Kaitlin Ritter was fourth overall with a time of 14:04.  Allison Gibson as tenth, running a 14:29 and MacKenzie Tittle was 15th (14:49).

For the boys, it was Andy Gemmaka was a 12:20 and a seventh place finish.  Ryan Greenberg was eleventh with a finishing time of 12:43, while Blake Neilson was 13th (12:46) and Austin Lewis was 14th (12:48).
