The Tecumseh Lady Arrows JV softball team traveled to Fairborn on Saturday, April 17th to play in the 6th Annual Sarah Huelsman Softball Tournament.

Tecumseh played Xenia in the first game of the afternoon jumping out to a quick 4 run lead in the top of the first. Jennifer Vlasic lead the attack with a double, driving in 2 runs.  Xenia battled back to cut the Arrows lead to 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the third, the Lady Arrows exploded for six runs as Kellie Gruber had 2 RBI’s on a sharply hit ball to the outfield.  Pitcher Cassie Cantrell only gave up 2 runs in the final six innings, striking out 10 Xenia Buccaneers.  Cantrell also led the offensive barrage with 4 hits in 5 at bats.  Jennifer Vlasic was the team leader driving in 4 runs.  The Arrows won the game 12 - 4 advancing them to the championship game against a Carroll Patriot team that had defeated the host, Fairborn Lady Skyhawks.

In the championship game, the Lady Arrows came out with hot bats once again scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning against a very fast Patriot pitcher.  Caileigh Leggett started the inning by singling to left and stealing second.  A walk and an error committed by the Patriots shortstop left the bases loaded for Emily Lokai.  The Tecumseh 3rd baseman delivered with a double to centerfield driving in 3 runs.  After the Patriots finally made the third out, Cassie Cantrell took the mound and immediately set the tone for the rest of the game.  Cantrell struck out the first three Patriot hitters on 11 pitches. The rest of the game went the Arrows way as they continued to score 10 runs in the next three innings.  The Arrows were led by Kara Schaefer and Emily Lokai who both drove in 3 runs each.  Katelyn Boswell also delivered two hits, one being a double, in another impressive offensive display by the Lady Arrows.  However, it was Cantrell that really impressed everyone watching from the stands, by striking out 12 of 17 batters she faced in a 13 - 0, 5 inning run rule that earned the Lady Arrows the win and the Championship Trophy.
