For the first half, the Bethel Lady Bees were pleasing the home crowd as they went into the locker room with a three-point lead over traditional power Franklin-Monroe.

Then came the deciding three minutes.
The Lady Jets came out and exploded for a 10-0 run to open the third quarter, leading them to a 55-44 victory over the Lady Bees in a Cross County Conference game.
“We came out in the third quarter, and we didn’t respond at all,” Bethel coach Ed Quincel said.  “We panicked and they took advantage of it.”
FM came out to open the second half with some pressure and the Lady Bees suffered turnovers, and watched as they lost the lead.
“We knew they were going to come out and do that to us,” Quincel added. “We just didn’t handle it, and it might have been a lack of experience.”
Franklin Monroe came out to open the game with a big 7-2 lead in the first three minutes.  Brook Cornett actually put the Lady Bees on the board with a short jumper to open the game, but FM came back with seven straight to take the lead.
Cornett, who led the Lady Bees with 17 points, again scored to break the string for the Lady Jets.  Bethel kept the pressure on to end the quarter, as Cornett scored four more point in the final two minutes, and Casey Seale added a free throw.  Bethel held the Lady Jets scoreless in the final three minutes, and finished the quarter tied 9-9 with FM.
Emily Ellerbrock gave the Lady Bees their first lead since the opening minute with a layup, and it led to a second quarter that saw five lead changes and four ties, as both teams traded punches.  The Lady Jets used an early 6-0 run to take a 15-11 lead, but the Lady Bees answered with six of their own points, four from Ellerbrock, giving them a 17-15 lead.
Sierra Bruner scored a pair of baskets to give the Lady Jets the lead again, but Cornett finished the half with five straight points, and Bethel took a 24-21 lead into the half.
“The kids really battled with them, even with two kids sick tonight,” Quincel said, who was without starter Kendal Banks.  “They played their hearts out, we just didn’t have a deep bench.”
The biggest part of the game to hurt the Lady Bees was the start of the third quarter, as the Lady Jets turned up the pressure.  They scored six easy points in the paint, and took the lead 31-24.
Bethel came back late in the third and made it a game again, closing the deficit to three, but Natalie Bowling hit a layup in the final seconds giving FM a 39-34 lead going to the fourth.
As the final period opened, FM again put together a run, scoring the first seven points, all from Monica Heckman, as they took a 46-34 lead.
The Lady Jets maintained their double digit lead the remainder of the game.
Bethel dropped to 8-11 overall with the loss, including 6-5 in the league.
