Lake Avenue Christian Church recently purchased a new location that will allow members of its congregation much more room to worship, but the future of the current building is still uncertain.

Pastor Randy Warner said the church has been looking into possible options for relocating, as his congregation has outgrown their current location.  When asked if expanding upon the current site was an option instead of moving out of town, Warner said the limited amount of space at the current location made the option of moving much more suitable to goals of the church.  Warner said the new location will assist the next generation of his congregation as they look to expand and improve upon their place of worship, as their current location is “landlocked,” and not capable of supporting much new development.

When asked what kind of a presence the church would maintain in New Carlisle after the move, Warner said at this point, he is not entirely sure.  “I can’t say anything 100-percent at this time,” he said.  “I feel like we do good things for the community,” he said, noting the church’s food pantry that feeds 300 to 400 people annually, the fall clothing drive, and their caroling program.  “I hope we can continue to do some of the same kind of ministry in Enon or Fairborn or wherever it’s needed,” Warner said.

Lake Avenue Christian Church recently purchased the former US Xpress truck terminal at the interchange of Interstate 70 and Interstate 675, which Warner says will provide the opportunity for the church to expand significantly.  Warner said the church would like to implement many new features at the recently-acquired five-acre site, including a state-of-the-art auditorium, cafeteria, sand volleyball courts, indoor playground, and a lobby nearly as large as the auditorium—but no finalized plans have been created yet.  “I want people to feel a really warm welcome when they walk in,” Warner said.

Warner said the name of the church will likely be changed to a different title, as calling it the Lake Avenue Christian Church will not make much sense at the new site.  He said that the new location is about five miles away from the current site, and that he hopes all of the member of his congregation will be able to follow the church with the move.
