Mark Lender, brother of council member Clark Lender, has filled the vacant seat of the Donnelsville Village Council.
Mayor Bob Cornwell swore in Lender during the Monday, March 1 meeting of the village council. Lender has lived in the village for seven years.
He works at Honeywell as a scheduler and planner for the maintenance department. 
Lender was in the running for the position against Lanny (Dale) Gentry, a resident of community for over 20 years.
Gentry had previously served two terms on the village council. This experience notwithstanding, Gentry would fall to Lender by a 3-2 vote.
In other business, council member Marie Kettlehake stated that she had received information from Scott Schmid, Interim Transportation Director with the Clark County-Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee, concerning the Streetscape Project for the village.
According to Kettlehake, the project is being funded with grant money and will not be an additional cost for the residents.
The village will pay 20 percent of the cost while the grant will cover 60 percent.
The project involves the installation of new street lights and sidewalks for a portion of the village.
Kettlehake stated that village residents will be receiving surveys via mail.
These surveys must be completed and returned in order to expedite the allocation of funds or the project.  Kettlehake said that the projected date for the commencement of the project would be July 1, 2012.
Village resident Albert Kilburne addressed the council about several vehicle and shed break-ins.
Kilburne recommended that notifications concerning such instances should be posted on a bulletin board of the village government center.
The next meeting of the Donnelsville Village Council is slated for the first Monday in the month of April.
