age 55 of Englewood, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, July 23, 2017. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Dan had worked for more than 29 years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a pipe fitter and welder. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. Dan enjoyed magic, woodworking, hiking, camping, playing golf and being with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Wendy (Thill) Shaner, mother: Donna J. (Lee) Shaner-Thill of New Carlisle, brothers: Gary W. Shaner of New Carlisle, Lee (Romaine) Shaner of Springfield, mother-in-law: Willa Ries of Englewood, sister-in-law: Kathy (Dan) Bokeno of Fairfield, niece: Mandy (Rob) Shaner-Ringe, nephews: Brian Shaner, Jeff (Sarah Foley) Treber, Jeremy (Katrina) Treber, Matt (Nicole ) Treber, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Donald E. Shaner. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood). The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pelotonia.org/DanShaner, Hospice of Dayton or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
