peacefully crossed over on August 3rd, 2017. As she wished, she was at home with her husband, Jim Salamon, and their Westie "fur kids", Darby and Caleigh. After receiving a terminal liver cancer diagnosis with a three-month prognosis, Sara lived with great zeal for two more years, always looking forward to another trip, concert, or event.

Sara (proudly related to the famous Studebaker automobile maker) was born in Bethel Township, Ohio. She majored in Music Education at Morehead State University. She inspired students with her love of music throughout a 30-year teaching career. She taught at the Mendon-Union High School (Mercer County, Ohio), St. Henry High School (St, Henry, Ohio), and in the Sycamore Community School district (southwestern Ohio).  She retired from teaching in 2008.

Sara and Jim enjoyed 31 years of marriage. They loved to travel, going to 37 states, 3 trips to Scotland, 11 trips to Jamaica, a trip to France, and a Caribbean cruise. They also pursued many shared interests such as music, wine tasting, and owning and rescuing West Highland White Terriers.

As a musician, Sara was a gifted bassoon and piano player and created brilliant music arrangements. She performed with a woodwind quintet and trio, performing locally (Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana) and regionally from New York State to Louisiana.

It was Sara’s wishes to be cremated. Family and friends are invited to ”A Celebration of Sara's Life”, on Saturday, September 16th (1:00 pm - 2:00 pm) at Epiphany United Methodist Church, 6635 Loveland Miamiville Road, Loveland OH 45140. A reception will follow. In support of Sara and Jim's interests, donations in Sara's memory can be made to Westie Med (an organization that helps rescued Westies with major health issues); www.westiemed.org/donate.
