The Ohio Crush improves to 8-0 on the season after Saturday’s 58-0 win against the Mount Vernon Militia.

Crush defensive coordinator Nick Wilkie speaks on the team’s performance.

“We got a lot of things going our way. In the first half we didn’t really play the way we normally play and we talked about that the in the second half. We capitalized on situations when they arose.”

In the first quarter, the Crush started out slow after coming off the field after a three and out on the first possession.

Miscues on offense plagued the Militia as the Crush defense gets an interception and a facemask penalty called on the Militia.

That penalty placed the Crush at the 11-yard line and on the next play quarterback John Mason and receiver Vance Taylor connect for an 11-yard touchdown, making the score 7-0.

On the Crush’s next offensive possession, Tristan Murray channeled his inner Beast Mode as he broke off defenders for a touchdown, the Crush lead 13-0.

The Crush continued to dominate on defense and recover a Militia fumble.

Back on offense, Jon Mason heaves the ball the down field and Marcus Woodard beats the defender and take it in for another Crush touchdown.

The Crush leads 19-0 going into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, the Crush defense recovers another Militia fumble early in the quarter.

Later in the quarter, John Mason rolls out and throws it to Justin Huff for Mason’s third touchdown.

The Crush take a commanding 25-0 lead.

With time expiring in the half, the Militia was able to get the ball into scoring position but fumbles and the Crush recovers.

In the third quarter, the Militia starts off with another turnover.

Crush linebacker Kevin Moore records an interception and takes it back for another touchdown.

The lead increases to 32-0.

On the next offensive drive, Tristan Murray rushes for his second touchdown, making the score 39-0.

The Militia offense couldn’t get anything going due in part to the Crush’s stout defense which resulted in a quick three and out.

Later, Mason and Taylor connect for another Crush touchdown.

The score is 46-0 at the end of the third quarter.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Militia had no chance at a comeback and in this game they were simply outmatched and undersized for the Crush.

The Crush would go on to score two more touchdowns and win 58-0.

The Crush will have two weeks off and will resume play on July 16th as they face the Jackson County Patriots at Raynor Park.

Game time is at 4 pm.
