It has been an amazing career so far for Tecumseh goalie Abby Adams.

The preface “so far” was used because if you ask Adams about what she expects this season on the soccer field, it is all about being the best she can be, and leading the Arrows to a strong season on the pitch.

Adams, who has been recognized by not only the conference coaches for her play in the net, but also the Miami Valley coaches, knows that it’s all about leaving it out on the field

‘I have been playing soccer since I could walk,” Adams said. “All of my siblings played growing up and it’s been a huge part of our family. My dad played into college and was actually a goalkeeper too.”

While she has continued to progress through her high school career, she looked back and knows how far she has come.

“I was grateful to make varsity my freshman year, and then work back from an injury in the first game to be able to play in the final part of the season,” she said. “Last year, we had a strong defense and we were able to break two long standing records for the school, which was a goal that Coach and I set during my sophomore year.”

“This summer has been exciting for me to be able to play with my sister, who will be a freshman.

I am also lucky to say that I was able to have been coached by Coach Lindsey for all four years of my high school career.”

With soccer being a year around sport for Adams, she works hard as soon as high school soccer ends with training for club soccer. Throughout the year she works with quality goalie trainers.

“I have been trying to focus on footwork and agility during our summer conditioning,” she said. “Since we have one returning defender this year, working with the defense on communication has also been a key focus.”

Now entering her senior year, Adams is ready for the challenge ahead, including rebounding from the loss of key seniors from last season.

“I hope we can rebuild after losing the seniors last year and come out as strong as ever,” she said. “We are capable of anything if every player puts the effort in and we work together. My goal is always to be a good teammate and leader for the girls.”

Adams career has been stellar ever since she was named first-team all-CBC as a sophomore. Also that year, she was named third-team all-Miami Valley North, while setting the school record for the lowest goals against average. Last year, she repeated the league honors, while being named first-team all-Miami Valley North, along with the Tecumseh defensive player of the year, and set the school record with 11 shutouts in a season, and lowered her school record for goals against average.

Adams is also involved as Student Council President, National Honor Society President, Muse Machine captain, Show Choir and Musical. Even with all of that on her plate, she still looks forward to continuing her career at the next level.

“I will always be involved with the sport whether I am playing on the field or watching on the side lines,” she said. I plan to focus on academics but I will continue to play in whatever way is available to me.”
