The New Carlisle Neighborhood Watch group met for its monthly meeting on Aug. 10 at the Smith Park Shelter House in New Carlisle. Members discussed the recent National Night Out event they hosted in New Carlisle. The consensus was that the event went extremely well and exceeded expectations.

A coordinator of another area National Night Out event attended the meeting and discussed some ideas with the group with the goal of helping them continue improving the local event for next year. According to the group’s coordinator, Jennie Stump, the Neighborhood Watch group plans to work on finding ways to get local government leaders and business owners more involved in next year’s event.

The low number of Neighborhood Watch group members was also addressed. “We’ve been trying to find ways to get more members but so far we haven’t had much luck,” says Stump, “We’ll keep trying because, you know, if we can get more members, we can do more events. It would also help our make our community safer as well.”

New Carlisle’s Neighborhood Watch group meets monthly to discuss safety issues that come up in the community, then works with local law enforcement to try and solve those issues. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm in the Smith Park shelter house. For more information, contact Jennie Stump at (937) 845-2235.
