Tecumseh Notes: Arrows Take Over CBC Lead

The Tecumseh volleyball team hosted Shawnee in what was a crucial game in the CBC race last week, with the winner vaulting to the top of the division standings. Both teams came in unbeaten in league play, and the Arrows will remain there.
In a four set match, Tecumseh defeated Shawnee 26-24, 25-20, 20-25, 25-23 to push their overall record to 13-2 on the season. Shawnee lost only their third game of the year.
“We needed to win this game at home, since we have to go to their place on the last game of the season,” said Tecumseh coach Angie Lizza.“We started off slow, but we fought back.”
Leading two games to one, the Arrows stared at a 22-18 deficit in game four, which would have given all the momentum to Shawnee had they gone to a fifth game. Tecumseh persevered for the win.
“The girls played well and fought back for that game,” Lizza said. “Cara Willardson had a big night for us, and Kirsten Nartker had a big ace during the fourth game comeback that fueled us. Lindsey (Nartker) then just turned it on and put them away.”
Nartker had 25 kills and 19 digs for the Arrows, along with five blocks. Willardson added nine kills, Baylee Pursifull had seven kills and three blocks, while Caroline Smith had 43 assists.
Tecumseh also defeated Greenon 27-25, 25-22, 25-10.
