Tecumseh Arrows SoccerTecumseh began their post-season tournament run last week, as they traveled to Wayne for a Division One boys’ soccer sectional game against the Warriors. After playing an even first half, the Arrows watched as the host Warriors scored twice early in the second half, en route to a 4-1 victory over Tecumseh.

With the loss, the Arrows finish out the season with a record of 6-8-3.

“You look at three of those losses we lost in the final 1:40, it was just little mistakes,” Tecumseh coach Jason Runner said. “Then you have your three ties, honestly we could have been 12-4 but that is how it went this year.”

“I thought tonight we played pretty well, we had a couple of lets downs, but you have that with a young team. We had it 1-1 at the half.  The kids got shocked in the first 10 minutes but we settled in”

It was very soon after the ball was kicked off that the Warriors struck to take the early lead. Brady Paxton took the ball inside the ten yard line, and scored past Arrows keeper Hector Rosas with 38:30 still left on the clock in the first half, as the Arrows trailed quickly 1-0.

They came right back seconds later, when Austin Marler shot right at Rosas but the Arrows keeper was in good position for the save, keeping the game at a one goal deficit.

Nathan Edmonds played in the net for most of the game, coming in for Rosas, and held the Warriors scoreless for the rest of the first half, but Wayne had their chances.

Tecumseh also had some shots to get on the board, as Kenyon Runner and Anton Brehmer both had good looks at the net. Finally with 13 minutes left in the half, the Arrows delivered.

Runner hit Tyler Adams who ripped a shot past the Wayne keeper, tying the game at one.

That’s how the half ended, but Wayne came out in the second half and immediately pressured the Tecumseh defense.

They had three legit looks at the net in the opening three minutes before Paxton scored in the box to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead.

Three minutes later, they scored again as Daniel Brown poked the ball past the keeper to make it 3-1. Wayne scored in the final 20 minutes of the game to seal the victory.

“We saw a lot of growth this season from the guys.” Runner said. “We are reloading here at Tecumseh, not rebuilding. We have a program now that people are recognizing and hopefully we can stay competitive. We are losing five seniors, and we know we had to throw some of our guys into the wolves this year. They got a taste of varsity play, and that will help us for next year,”
