At the August 8, 2016 meeting of the Bethel Board of Education the Board heard protests from several area residents on the new one stop policy for students in the district. The new policy only allows Bethel Township residents to specify one pick and one drop-off location for their students. This creates a hardship for parents who may have flexible work schedules that allow them to be home for three days of the week but require an alternative location for drop-off on the other two days. Although parents expressed their concerns, the board refused to reconsider the policy.

In addition, superintendent Virginia Potter announced that the anticipated enrollment for the 2016-2017 exceeds 1250, which has necessitated the creation of an additional 5th grade class. The district is looking for an teacher to fill the position.

The next meeting of the Bethel Board of Education is scheduled for September12, 2016 at 7:00pm in the school auditorium.
